The Town In The Lava

Wednesday December 13, 2006
Also called "The Town In The Lava", the town of Hafnarfjörður (aka Hafnarfjordur, meaning "harbour-fjord") is located just 6 miles outside of Reykjavik. Each year, this romantic small town celebrates Christmas with the Christmas Village. It is open Saturdays and Sundays from noon - 6 pm, until Christmas. Live entertainment starts at 2 pm. On the 23rd the Christmas Village will stay open until 10 pm with a pop concert at night. Just like Iceland's capital Reykjavik, Hafnarfjörður offers great shopping opportunities and many other things to do.

Let's find out what Iceland has to offer in and around its capital: Destination Reykjavik - A Travel Guide and learn more about Iceland in Country Profile: Iceland!
