Thursday January 25, 2007
While weather conditions continue to hamper ski resort operations across Europe, Åre in Sweden is insisting it's ready to host the 2007 Alpine World Ski Championships on February 3 - 18. "The last few weeks have offered fine conditions with cold weather and snowfall in Åre. All preparations for the Championships are running according to plan." Said a spokeswoman. Last weekend temperatures in the Are region dropped to -12 °C and there was fresh snowfall. Most parts of the race arena are now in excellent condition and already ready for use.
