Burping Moose Bad For Global Warming

Friday February 22, 2008
Moose - NPS.GOVI couldn't help sharing this. While we try to "live green" and do things to offset our damage to the planet, Norway's Aftenposten Newspaper finds out that Norway's national mascot is bad for the environment. But they have a valid excuse.

Scientists at the Technical Univeristy of Norway in Trondheim decided to look for some natural causes to bad emissions - and found that moose let loose tons of gas emissions a year. The research web site forskning.no has calculated that a moose's yearly gas emissions equal the emissions of 36 flights between Oslo and Trondheim - per person. Or, another comparison: According to Newspaper VG, a car emits the same in around 8,000 miles.

So why aren't mooses "living green"? Their stomachs create methane gas to be able to digest plant fibers and they can't help burping or farting it out. I told you they had a valid excuse.
