Visiting Scandinavia in November

Saturday November 1, 2008
Approaching the holiday season, November leads into the Scandinavian winter weather. Even today winter continues to be the one inescapable fact of life in the North. The season can come early and lasts long. However, tourism crowds in Scandinavia are very low this month, which means big savings for November travelers (e.g. discounted hotel prices). With the fall foliage and warmer weather gone, the typical winter activities are now starting!

The following holidays may affect travel:

  • Denmark - November 10: The Feast of Saint Martin (Mortensaften)
  • Sweden - November 2: All Saints' Eve (Dag före Allhelgona), non official, however a de facto half day. November 3: All Saints' Day (Alla helgons dag)
  • Finland - November 3: All Saints' Day (Pyhäinpäivä)
