Scandinavia's Biggest Christmas Market

Saturday November 8, 2008
The biggest of all Christmas markets in Scandinavia is the one at the Liseberg park in Gothenburg, Sweden. With almost 5 million Christmas lights you can’t expect anything less than a brilliant Christmas! They will be switched on Nov. 14 with the night time illumination of the city. A great sight.

Liseberg is an almost 80-year-old amusement park and top tourist attraction in Sweden, with over 3 million visitors a year. You’ll find 80 cabins and shops offering everything that makes Christmas special. I like to stroll through the design and crafts market where you can buy gifts and accessories of all kinds - it is wonderful to soak up the Christmas spirit this event provides. Scents from the mulled wine and hot almonds can make you hungry, and you can have some of the Christmas specialities for lunch or dinner at the restaurants located there.

Liseberg's Christmas Market will be open until 23 December (open daily until at least 9 pm), so if you are visiting Gothenburg, put this on your list as part of the things to do in Gothenburg - or learn more about Swedish Christmas traditions!
