Thanksgiving Travel Update

Saturday November 22, 2008
The dreaded Thanksgiving travel rush is expected to start this weekend - and airlines will once again have travelers in record numbers. This is expected to last until the Monday after Thanksgiving. To make your travels as painless and smooth as possible, follow these rules:
  • Arrive early! This means 90 minutes early for a domestic flight, and two hours early for an international flight.
  • Allow time for traffic congestion on the way to the airport as well.
  • Don't bring any liquids or gels (water, lotion, shampoo, toothpaste, etc). It will speed up the security checks considerably.
  • If you cannot avoid bringing liquids, it will have to be in a container that is sized 3 fl. oz. or less (and said container must fit inside a clear quart-sized zip bag).

For up-to-date length of wait lines for your travel day and time, see Current TSA Wait Lines. NOTE: Don't forget that security is only part of your journey. The security wait time DOES NOT include airline check-in counter wait times, which are often over an hour long during Thanksgiving!
