December 13 is Saint Lucia Day. In Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, Saint Lucia is celebrated widely with candlelight and candle processions.
A family's eldest girl portrays Lucia that day, wearing a crown of candles. Women sing the traditional Lucia song in which the words describe the light with which Lucia overcomes the darkness, and each Scandinavian country has lyrics in their native language.
