March 1 is Beer Day in Iceland. Yes, seriously - Icelanders have a day dedicated to the world's favorite beverage! This popular annual event began in 1989, when after 75 long years, prohibition of beer was lifted.
Nowadays, Reykjavik's bars, restaurants, and clubs are especially wild on Beer Day. Take the opportunity to taste the three local brands of Iceland beer: Egils, Thule, and Viking.
No word yet on plans to make March 2nd National Aspirin Day.
