The Reykjavik Blues Festival

By Terri Mapes, About.com

The Reykjavik Blues Festival is an annual event in Reykjavik that takes place each spring around Easter in Iceland, in late March or early April (2009: April 4-9).

The Reykjavik Blues Festival is still considered a hot travel secret among blues and gospel lovers, but with each year, the festival in Iceland's capital becomes more widely known.

The Blues Festival in Reykjavik has become a spring tradition for many locals and visitors, and it certainly can offer entertainment like few other annual events in Iceland. Performers at the Blues Festival - both newcomers as well as big names - come from all over the world to show their skills here in performances and concerts, and to collaborate with other artists.

The event in Reykjavik starts with a big opening ceremony and is concluded with an impressive concert at the historical Free Church of Iceland.

You can find upcoming dates and concert information at the Reykjavik Blues Festival Website.
