The Reykjavik Arts Festival has been held biannually since 1970 and annually from 2004. This festival in Iceland is one of the oldest and most respected arts festivals in Northern Europe.

The Reykjavik Arts Festival is an attraction for many. If you'd like to visit, be there when it takes place in mid May every year. The length of the festival is over two weeks.

The program of the Reykjavik Arts Festival offers visitors a variety of concerts, exhibitions, dance, theater, and opera performances. Along with its focus on Icelandic culture past and present, the Festival has hosted many outstanding international artists and performers.

The Reykjavik Arts Festival is presided over by the Minister of Culture and the Mayor of Reykjavik on a rotating basis. The purpose of the Festival is to promote Icelandic and international culture in all fields of art.
