Sjomannadagur means Seafarers' Day in Icelandic, which is a major annual event in Iceland, taking place every year, on the first or second Sunday in June depending on the calendar.

If you happen to be in Iceland's capital Reykjavik on Seafarers' Day, you can enjoy the Festival of the Sea with lots of great seafood and interesting attractions like old ships in the harbor of Reykjavik. Other parts of Iceland celebrate in a similar ways (sometimes depending on the Weather in Iceland).

Seafarers' Day is an annual event in Iceland which offers visitors music, parades, and competitions amongst fishermen that are very entertaining to watch. For example, on Seafarers' Day, the Icelandic fishermen will compete in rowing boats, swimming, and even tug-of-war. Luckily, they all take Seafarers' Day off from work, for the many activities and events on the program!
