A much-loved free sight in Bergen is Bryggen, the old wharf of the city. Bryggen (wharf in Norwegian) consists of beautiful 14th century Hanseatic buildings in Bergen, free to visit and a great photo opportunity. More than 60 buildings of the original wharf are still standing (now housing cafes and shops) and today this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
