Need to call Iceland and not sure how to do it? It's easy when you follow these steps before you call someone in Iceland.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Just a few moments.
Here's How:
- First of all, check what time it is in Iceland right now so you don't call Iceland when it's the middle of the night there.
- Start the international call from the US by dialing 011.
From within Europe and Asia, dial 00.
From Australia, dial 0011. - Now dial 354 (country code for Iceland).
- Proceed to dial the Icelandic 7-digit phone number.
- Wait for the call to connect and talk. You do not need to speak Icelandic to call someone in Iceland - English is spoken by most Icelanders. But it's always nice to include some basic Icelandic phrases as a courtesy greeting.
If you need to place more calls, you should find out how to make calls to other Scandinavian countries as well.
Tips:
- To call from Iceland, dial 00 for an international call and then the country code (e.g. 1 for the US, 33 for France, 61 for Australia, etc.)
- When using a phone card to call Iceland, follow the card's instructions.
- Icelandic cell phone numbers always begin with 6 or 8. International calls to cell phones are often more expensive.
- Calling in the evening (your local time) or on weekends is often cheaper.
What You Need:
- A phone!
- A 7-digit Icelandic phone number.
- International long distance service or an international phone card.
