Denmark Strait - Map of the Denmark Strait

CC Lic.
Definition: The Denmark Strait is part of the northern Atlantic Ocean. The islands separated by the Denmark Strait are Iceland and Greenland (a Danish territory). The Denmark Strait separates these islands as a channel.

The Denmark Strait itself is not very deep and frequently carries ice. Just east of the Denmark Strait is the Norwegian Sea, and northeast of the Denmark Strait the Greenland Sea.

Alternate Spellings: In Danish, the Denmark Strait is called Danmarksstrædet.
