The Potetkjelleren is a restaurant in Bergen that has received lots of attention from local media as well as travel writers such as myself. This restaurant is found below ground - in a cellar. Indeed, the name of this restaurant is Norwegian for "potato cellar"!
Restaurant Potetkjelleren has contemporary dishes on the menu, with a touch of Norwegian cuisine, where the focus naturally lies on Norway's seafood. I tried a 4-course menu and was offered perfect wine pairings for each course.
Besides the quality food and friendly service, enjoy the Potetkjelleren's cozy cellar atmosphere and some candlelight when you spend an evening for a unique, romantic dinner here.
Reasonable prices are offered at this restaurant, just a little bit higher than restaurants with similar Scandinavian cuisine. But the elegant atmosphere more than makes up for it!
