Previously known as the Rainbow hotel chain, this Thon hotel has seven floors, a 3-star rating, and offers the best nightly rates in the area.

2. Cheap Hotel #2: St Augustin Quality Inn
St Augustin Quality Inn
Close to the Thon Hotel Trondheim, you'll find another cheap hotel: The 4-star Quality Inn St Augustin. The price per night at the St Augustin hotel is a little bit higher but at least the coffee is free. They also offer more amenities than the other budget hotels, e.g. a fitness room and tennis, in-room highspeed internet, business facilities and services, and more. Here's a nice balance of quality accommodation at a good price.

In central location as well is the Hotel Prinsen, part of the Scandic hotel chain. This is a relatively cheap hotel in Trondheim with a large conference area, and thus perfect for business travelers. Or shoppers. Or families (kids up to 13 stay here for free!). Prinsen Hotel also houses Restaurant Pinocchio and Kieglekroa, the oldest pub in Trondheim. The hotel also offers car rentals, but they are cheaper when you compare them online.
