Folklore in Norway plays a big part in Norway's culture and heritage. Norwegian folklore includes lots of references to elfs, witches, and other non-human characters.

This kind of folklore extends to Norway's interesting Christmas customs. There's Nisse, the little elf (or gnome) that guards animals and plays tricks on children. The folklore of Norway also tells us about the goat-like Julebukk, dating back to the Vikings.

Norway's natural features have influenced its folklore a lot. There are many stories about trolls and elves that live in the forests of Norway.
