From the article: Commercial Whaling in Iceland
Iceland has consistently rejected international efforts to conserve whales, and its "scientific" whaling program was widely criticized as commercial whaling in disguise. Other countries are also debating their current stance on this issue. Are you in favor of commercial whaling or are you against it? Vote on Whaling
no
- no way! Conserve is best! Save the whales! KindnessI

Unjustifiable
- Only man less intelligent than these wonderfully intelligent mammals could justify their murder for food etc. Shameful!

NO NEVER
- What is the matter with you cretins? Lets eat whales because we can? How despicable is that! How about we start harvesting young Icelanders!

Stop Whaling
- I oppose the killing of any whales in the worlds oceans.

AGAINST to the highest level!!!
- This dying tradition is being fueled single handedly by Japan. Its inconsiderate actions and influence are being noted and disapproved by a lot of nations and yet they have the guts to defy international laws set to protect these creatures. The very painful question we all have to ask is "What is the U.N. doing to address this issue? If anything at all."

Against it
- It provides less beauty and it's the same with us, because imagine getting stabbed, would that be nice?? we are like them, pepole! open your eyes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whales are not food

Uncivilized behavior
- Whaling is a blot on Iceland's reputation as an enlightened country, and instead reminds us of the sort of uncivilized behavior we associate with the 10th century in general.

Against it!
- I'm completly against whailing on commercial use, with so many other sources we don't even need whales for meat, oil, ivory or leather. We are in a new era of life, LET GO OF OLD CUSTOMS!

part of natural order
- I had whale (minke) during a recent visit to Iceland. It was much better tasting than I expected. Finn and minke whales are in no danger currently and represent primary species that are hunted today. As for sentient creatures, there are lots of them we utilize today as part of the normal food chain and there is no major outcry for them (outside of the PETA loonies). Get use to humans being omnivores; its part of the natural order.

legal and ethical
- sidewinder, no one is driving whales into extinction. The whale harvests of Japan, Norway and Iceland are all legal, ethical and entirely sustainable, not to mention environmentally friendly! That's the beauty of it. It's time to accept the science, forget the Hollywood sentimentality and start harvesting whales commercially. End the moratorium, restore the IWC to its proper function of regulating commercial whaling and let's get on with the harvest!

A disgrace
- Icelandic whaling is a disgrace just like the Japanese whaling as well. They are all driving whales to exctinction. Hunting endangered and vulnerable whales makes no sense these days, considering it is hammering their international reputations.

fine
- Sure there are bigger problems in the world (ALL CAUSED BY HUMANS). Whales are intelligent, sentient creatures like every other non human life form. You want to kill whales FINE, just know there's idiots like us out there who are willing to stop you :) Heres to criminals sinking your killing boats.

whaling
- I know there is no lack of idiots with low IQ in the world. I have to correct you although English is not my own language, it is called hunting not killing. Sure whales have rather large brains, but should we value a life of a living being by it´s brainpower? Think about that. You can also think about, hunting one whale (one kill) makes thousands of meals, but maybe you eat (one kill) every day because you eat smaller animals. The animals you probably eat are kept on death row from the day they are born until they are killed, eating disgusting mixture of food that makes them grow fast and taste better.

No
- Basically Iceland is bancrupt and wants/needs to join the EU. Well, if you want our money you have to give up your illegal whaling. Convert the few whalers into whalewatch crews. Makes sense businesswise and the whales would prefer it as well. Come on, Iceland, stop feeding the illegal Japanese market and join the 21st Century ;-)
